Make Well is a shared creative studio inside a historic downtown building with original brick, hand-painted murals, curated furniture, and flexible studio setups.

Our photo spaces are designed to feel thoughtful, tactile, and a little analogue. Whether you need soft natural light, a controlled lighting environment, or access to the full studio for a larger shoot, Make Well gives you room to create images that feel personal, editorial, and alive.

Your booking includes access to both our soft natural light studio and controlled light studio, giving you the flexibility to move between natural light and your own lighting setup throughout your session.

Create images with more depth and artistry using our hand-painted murals, and one-of-a-kind visual backdrops.

Flexible Lifestyle Setups

Our larger studio can be arranged for brand shoots, portraits, content days, family sessions, bridal, movement, and more.

Downtown SLC location

Located near Rio Grande and The Gateway, with Pioneer Park nearby for shoots that want to move between indoor studio portraits and outdoor city imagery.

Pricing

Every booking gives you access to the full Make Well photo studio, including both our natural and controlled light spaces, the mural backdrop, available styled furniture setups, and approved photo areas throughout the studio.

The space is designed to give you plenty of flexibility within a single session, whether you want to move between lighting styles, create several distinct looks, work with a larger group, or simply have more room to experiment.

Our shared kitchenette may also be available for photos depending on studio use that day. If you’re interested in incorporating it into your shoot, please indicate that on your booking form and we’ll confirm availability.

Full Day*: $1,000

Make Well is a creative photo studio in downtown Salt Lake City, designed by artists for artists, photographers, founders, and brands who believe the environment shapes the work. Every room is thoughtfully curated with natural light, rich textures, and collected details that add depth and character to your images—without competing with your vision.

Whether you're creating timeless portraits or launching a new brand, our spaces are designed to help you make work that feels intentional, artful, and distinctly your own.

Our studio is especially suited for: brand photography, founder portraits, personal branding sessions, product and lifestyle photography, editorial photography, artist and maker portraits, bridal and engagement sessions, creative family photography, dance and movement photography, content creation days, mini sessions, small campaign shoots.

Studio Use & Policies

Please email hello@makewell.studio if you wish to book outside of listed hours.

Book Now

  • Your booking time includes setup, shooting, cleanup, and load-out. Please reserve enough time for your full session.

  • Furniture and props may be moved carefully within the reserved studio area, but must be returned to their original location before you leave. Please do not drag furniture across the floors.

  • Studio Access includes use of the larger lifestyle studio, mural backdrop, available furniture setups, and approved photo areas throughout Make Well. It does not guarantee unrestricted access to every room or member area unless approved in advance.

    Our kitchenette may be available for photos depending on studio use that day. If you’re interested in incorporating it into your shoot, please indicate that on your booking form and we’ll confirm availability.

  • Photographers may use studio bookings for paid client sessions. The booking photographer must be present for the full session and is responsible for all guests, clients, props, cleanup, and any damage during the rental.

  • Some of our favorite shoots start with an unconventional idea. If your concept involves paint, glitter, confetti, powders, candles, or other materials beyond a typical photoshoot, we'd love to collaborate with you on making it happen. Please reach out before your session so we can discuss your plans and any cleanup or preparation that may be needed.

    To keep the studio safe for everyone, smoke bombs and open flames are not permitted.

  • Studio reservations are paid in full at the time of booking. A $25 booking fee is non-refundable for all standard studio reservations. This fee covers payment processing, administrative costs, and the opportunity cost of reserving the studio.

    Cancellations made more than 7 days before your reservation will receive a refund of the remaining balance after the $25 booking fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of the reservation, as well as no-shows, are non-refundable.

    You may reschedule your reservation once at no additional charge with at least 48 hours’ notice, and your payment will transfer to the new date. Rescheduling requests made within 48 hours will be treated as a cancellation.

    This policy applies only to the Make Well studio reservation. Photographers and other service providers may establish their own separate cancellation and rescheduling policies.

  • Guests are responsible for any damage to the space, floors, walls, furniture, props, or equipment during their booking.

  • Street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods.

    We offer access to an unloading area and ramp to simplify load-in and load-out. If you're bringing substantial equipment or coordinating a production team, please reach out in advance so we can help you prepare.

  • Our studios were designed to celebrate natural light in all its forms. The quality and direction of light will vary depending on the time of day, season, and weather, giving each shoot its own character.

    If you're planning around a specific lighting style, we're happy to recommend the best time to book. Please note that refunds cannot be issued due to weather-related lighting conditions.
